Let’s dive right in and tackle two essential topics: how to minimize input latency and enhance motion clarity for your Valorant gameplay, ensuring you get the absolute best performance from your current setup. I’ll also share strategic recommendations on which computer components to focus on if you’re considering a new build. Plus, I’ll point you to the best budget-friendly deals out there, so you can upgrade with confidence.
VALORANT Low Latency Mode and NVIDIA Settings
Setting up your system can feel never-ending, right? You keep adjusting things in the workshop after you notice something isn't working haha.
This article promises to be a fascinating read as it presents a unique perspective based on experience.
The key components you need for playing Valorant include your monitor, network, and sound. After that, your posture is important, followed by the quality of your system. (Further explanation will follow at the end.)
A recommendation list of everything talked about here.
When discussing latency, we're referring to computer inputs, right? It's essential to have a mouse with a polling rate of 1000 Hz, along with good sensors. Additionally, make sure the size of the mouse fits comfortably in your hand! Check out the list of mice I have provided for you. If you decide to purchase any of them, I earn a commission as a way to support my work..
To be honest, the type of keyboard you use doesn't matter that much. Whether you choose a gaming keyboard, a mechanical one, or a good-quality non-gaming keyboard, the most important factor is comfort. You want a keyboard that isn’t too difficult to press.
While lights can enhance the overall look of your setup, they aren't essential. In many cases, poorly designed lighting can make it harder to see in the dark.
That being said, if you’re looking for recommendations, I can provide a list of good keyboards.
As a result, we are left with three other important devices to acquire. This article will be brief, but I plan to discuss individual tech devices and potential optimizations in more depth in the future.
3 other main items are
Monitor - I would advise to go for anything above 60hz for starters but if you don't have the budget then starting with 60hz is more than enough to get going, it all comes down to buying the best of the 60hz, using a good 60 hz monitor is generally equal to using a 240 or 144hz bad monitor!
And it is also not good for those with weak eyes or sensitive eyes to be playing with a 60hz fps games for too long.
For IPS, TN, and VA, which monitor should I get? Although OLED is expensive, it offers the best overall picture quality. However, if you’re into playing Valorant and dislike spending money, it might not be worth the investment.
TN (Twisted Nematic) - TN panels are often regarded as the best in terms of response time and are generally more affordable. However, they can be difficult to find, and their color vibrancy is not very impressive, as you may already know. One solution to enhance color performance is to adjust the settings on your GPU (graphics processing unit).
IPS (In-Plane Switching)- IPS panels can be considered the younger sibling of OLED technology. They offer excellent color reproduction and viewing angles but may not perform as well as TN panels in fast-paced FPS games. However, they are a more cost-effective option for those who prefer not to spend too much. Besides gaming, IPS panels are versatile for various tasks and deliver solid overall performance.
VA (Vertical Alignment) - Modern VA panels are becoming increasingly competitive, but their response times are still not ideal for fast-paced games like Valorant. They can work well for single-player games, but generally have slower response times and higher ghosting rates. I've tried some 240Hz VA panels, which exhibit minimal ghosting, but a 144Hz IPS or TN panel would typically perform similarly to them. In most cases, you won't notice a significant difference between the two, especially when compared to a 240Hz IPS or TN panel.
Next, get a good headphone! It is very important to be immersed in the game and will explain that at the end.
Lastly, having a good CPU is essential! While many people are leaning towards AMD, I believe Intel still holds an advantage in terms of delivering consistent FPS at high rates, as well as maintaining stable frame times, which is very important in games like Valorant. Currently, I'm using an AMD processor, but if I decide to upgrade, I would switch to Intel.
To be honest, I think AMD, especially their 3D V-Cache technology, is a great option if you're on a budget. However, I would recommend AMD processors more for cache-demanding games like single-player titles, while games like Valorant don’t require as much of that.
For Intel, I can recommend some of the best options that range from affordable to high-end. Anything beyond that might just be for those who want to spend extravagantly! Additionally, I will still recommend AMD CPUs in case you prefer them.
Now last talk before the Nvidia settings and my very important information and links to get these things.
I generally try to avoid AMD GPUs. A friend of mine had one, and he said it was very good, but one day lightning struck his house and his GPU was damaged by the shock. While this might not be a common situation and could happen with NVIDIA GPUs as well, it’s not the main reason I prefer NVIDIA.
I choose NVIDIA primarily because it supports productivity, which is important to me, as well as gaming. Unless I have money to spare, I think having two GPUs—an AMD for gaming and an NVIDIA for productivity—could be a good idea. However, when it comes to Valorant, NVIDIA and Valorant are typically seen as a perfect match. Unless Valorant becomes more compatible with AMD, NVIDIA is likely to have the advantage, especially since this article focuses on Valorant.
But don’t worry; we’ll be looking for budget-friendly NVIDIA options. We want a GPU like the GTX 1060 up to the RTX 20 series, and if the budget allows, we can consider an RTX 30 or 40 series. However, the performance difference is surprisingly minimal because Valorant is a CPU-bound game. Thus, having a high-end GPU isn’t as crucial for this title.
OK now about Nvidia settings and valorant, this video you're about to watch please be patient and watch it! It worked for me and I shockingly noticed very responsive inputs as well as motion clarity(this setting will benefit you more if you have a somewhat bad monitor with bad motion clarity but it will also be a big help to those with good monitors) If you can make edits to the rtss files try to run notepad as admin!
OK about the key components for valorant
Your monitor should have very good motion clarity, and this way a 144hz monitor outperforms a 240 hz monitor in terms of visual clarity! So making sure your getting a good 240 hz monitor is vital, forget the response time and low latency bull crap, it's most of the time not even noticeable, but do you know what is noticeable? Tracking an enemy while strafing left and right, flicking fast! These things the better the clarity the sweeter the game for you and the fewer chances of damaging your eyes in the long run!
With this said here is a list of monitors I have gathered from 60hz up with good latency as well as motion clarity!
The next important aspect to address for improving your Valorant experience is your network. Any ping above 50 is generally not ideal for competitive play; you'll benefit more from capping your FPS than having a high ping.
Real latency often stems from network issues. For instance, when you're tracking a player, it can feel like you're always a bit late or off target. This is usually due to network problems, and sometimes even Valorant's packet loss statistics don’t capture these issues!
Therefore, prioritize a stable network connection over low ping. It's better to focus on consistency rather than just lowering your ping. If you're looking for routers, I believe it's not strictly necessary to invest heavily in one. As long as you're using a wired connection, any 5G router should suffice. However, a 6G router can provide additional benefits, though it's not essential.
If you're in a situation where a wired connection isn't an option, your best bet would be to use your phone to tether to a router that you purchased. You can then connect the router to your PC via an Ethernet cable, or you can connect your phone directly to your PC using USB tethering.
Sounds play a crucial role in gaming. Having a good pair of headphones not only immerses you in the experience but also enhances your crosshair placement, guessing, and preparation. It can even assist with your aiming and reaction times! This is a fact: your ears help you gauge various aspects, such as movement, and maintain your balance in real life, which directly translates to gaming.
For example, when you see a player on your screen and hear their footsteps, you can anticipate their movements. Combining auditory input with what you see improves your accuracy and helps you stay relaxed. On the other hand, using headphones that distort sound can increase your anxiety, as it makes it difficult to hear your own footsteps and other important sounds.
Posture is important, and the way you sit matters just as much as the chair and desk you use. While you don't necessarily need a gaming chair, many people find that it works wonders for them. What’s crucial is having an adjustable desk and a chair that is the right height. Even a dining chair can suffice, but ideally, your knees shouldn't be raised too high above the seat or resting on it for extended periods. Your thighs should make light contact with the seat, and your legs below the knees should form a 90-degree angle, extending straight down to the floor.
You might want to check out this video for more information.
Here’s a link to purchase a desk if you're interested! However, if you’re a wrist player, resting your hands on a gaming chair will feel similar to resting them on a desk. But what kind of desk should you choose?
I personally recommend opting for a desk that has a curved middle section. This design allows you to lean deeper into the desk, helping your hands relax comfortably from your shoulders. Additionally, make sure you have a monitor stand that is high enough for optimal viewing.
Recommdarion list check it out!
That’s all! I hope this information helps many players today!
